The libra room

Yesterday Alex and I were to the Libra room, an AWESOME bar... that was brilliant !!!! We ordered a Pitcher of Sangria for two with bunch of fruits! At 8pm there were a music band playing! Monica Lee playing Voice, Viola, Guitar, Piano, Songwriter.

Jesse Waldman on the guitar and Marc L'esparance on the drums and back up vocals...They were so friendly at each break they came to speak with us, they also notice our Sangria pitcher...

Quelques nouvelles en Fançais ...

La semaine commence sous le soleil ce qui me met de bonne humeur... déja un bon point !!! Au boulot, toujours pareil... mesures sur le raffineur...devient un peu répétitif! Heuresement hier deux gars de l'entreprise AFT fournisseur de Screening, de disc de raffineur... faisaient des expériences sur le screening d'Alex (raison pour laquelle elle n'a pas travaillé lundi!!!chanceuse...elle était a la plage..) a midi il arrivent dans mon bureau pour déposer leurs affaires...ils seprésentent, hello, Sophie....et la il y en a un qui me dit :"Ah mais tu viens de l'EFPG, Grenoble?" je dis que oui...il est promo 1986, il a fait la meme école il y a 20 ans....trop bien... Donc au final on a parlait l'aprem enssemble et il m'a offert un café en partant !!! J'ai eu l'impression qu'il était content de voir quelqu'un de son école... c'était super sympa!

Donc son parcourt, aprés l'école il est resté un an en Finlande (ERASMUS) Puis un an en Suède à l'ambassade pour son service militaire, puis environ 8 ans dans une papeterie Francaise et enfin il est parti à Montréal ou il est depuis 9ans, ou il a trouvé sa femme et a eu ses deux enfants! Pour rien au monde il ne retournerait en France. Il s'occupe des problèmes en entreprise avec les produits qu'il commercialise, son secteur est le canada, et les deux cotes Américaines... impressionant comme secteur...donc autant dire qu'il bouge beaucoup...il m'a dit :"Heuresement que m'a femme est tres comprhensive"!

Se fut une rencontre tres sympa...comme quoi meme a 8000km on trouve encore des PAPET !!!!

Sinon je vais vous faire découvrir ce que j'adore a Vancouver :  INUKSHUK - I am really fond of the INUKSUK !!!

Cet amas de pierres est une sculpture Inuit représentant un humain ouvrant les bras en signe de bienvenue. Elle est appelée inukshuk et était utilisée « comme points de repère et aide à la navigation » (lu sur la plaque au pied de cette sculpture) pour guider les gens dans l’Arctique... English Bay, Vancouver, British Colombia, Canada

Et maintenant c’est aussi le logo des prochains Jeux Olympiques d’hiver de Vancouver ! Son nom est Illanaaq, ce qui signifie « ami » dans la langue Inuit. Ce logo coloré symbolise la diversité de la province de Colombie Britannique : vert pour les forets humides de la côte, bleu pour le Pacifique et les Rocheuses, rouge comme les feuilles d’érable et jaune comme les couchers de soleil. Ce sont aussi (presque – bleu foncé au lieu de noir) les couleurs des anneaux Olympiques.

The countdown is on, and soon the world will be coming to Vancouver and Whistler for the Winter Games in 2010. The best athletes in the world will come to BC to compete in events like hockey, skiing, figure skating and more. The twin cities of Whistler and Vancouver will provide a dazzling stage on which to perform.

Pour ses jeux Olympic tout sera prêt ...impressionant tous les travaux dans la ville ... les patinoires, salle de sport...Hockey = SPORT NATIONAL ICI !!! Il parrait que les matchs sont AMAZING !!! Meme our un match sans importance capitale, les suportaires sont a fond, crient, chantent...aucun sport ici n'engendre un tel enthouiasme !!!Malheuresement la saison ne commence qu'en novembre et nous seront déja reparti pour notre douce France!!!

Voici la patinoire...ou en plus du hockey il y aura le patinage artistique...Brian Joubert !!!! Champion Olympic en 2010 ! Et bien d'autre Francais seront la au RDV !!! Ils ont interet !!lol!

 

Il y a aussi une belle salle de spectacle, sport...je sais pas trop ce qu'on y fait mais c'est super beau donc je vous montre, tout ça bien sur dans le downtown ...

La nuit c'est tout éclairé, c'est super beau...

Voila le petit descriptif des JO 2010....Vancouver !!! Les billets d'avions sont déja en train d'être réservé pour venir a Vancouver en 2010.... imaginez ça....Le monde entier sera la !!!

PNE - Pacific National Exhibition ...really nice...

 

Saturday we decided to go to the PNE even if the weather was not absolutly perfect, cloudy & shower ... But we did it !!! Firstly the PNE is at the crossroad of Renfrew and Hasting, so far from my so cute room close to ubc... I decided to wake up early to phone to Fresh and not being in late.  matter of fact I was half an hour earlier. I went to the Starbucks coffee and I decided to test the "Espresso" without cream, milk and all the shtick they added in their coffee... It was very small but really tasty!

The PNE was loads of shows outside, inside .... lots of foods, the famous littles donuts .... SO YUMMY, the best DONUTS I have ever tested !!!! Obviously with cinamonsugar ... perfect ... hum ....the smell, the taste ...

We saw a show or more or less a contest with horses and calf, cow, .... A terrible accident happened ... The goal of the contest was to pick 3 calfs and close them in a wire fence... There were 3 horsemans on their horses. At the begining every thing was pefect ... But After a while ... A horse managed a sharp turning and the girl droppen... and the horses droppen too, it was on its back just on the girl ... it 's taken 60s for the horse to stand up ... its hoofs hurting the girl too. In my mind it was the few seconds the longest of her life ... She didn't move, the assistance arrived and the show was canceled... We don't really know the end of the story I will try to discover it...

We saw lots of strange shows, music concerts ... actors ... Whirligig ...DOG CONTEST ...that was funny, lots of dogs jumping more than 1m40 high, running .... There was the fastest dog of the world, and a "Firedog" they were amazing really, and loads of tiny dogs The fastest ....

 

All the little children took photos with these tedy bear ... and the two french girls ... we wanted photos ...too ...lol! We visited the farm showing !!! Pig running, duck running ... funny ! The farm the best place to visit ! Beautiful baby chick, duckling, baby pig ...

We saw a sandcastle contest !!!

How are things !!!

Hello every body, It has been a while.... I was not in the mood of writting my life on the net...but now I do! So Monday we had no meeting, James was not here, so one day doing nothing.

Thuesday, I as waitting for my meeting ... Stephane lucky man have had a meeting , not me.  I saw Satya, I showed him my last week results : "How, it's good, you can stop now, you have done enough work yor project is done" OUAW ... Really ... I have 5 weeks left ..nothing to do? No impossible...

At noon Alex and I decided to go shopping - go downtown ... We have found loads of gift !!! Gift for familly, friends, boyfriend, I did it ...

Wednesday I decided to go to work to added some results to my work in order to have a perfect repport ! At 2 pm, it was done ... I decided to go to Richmond center "the south Chinatown"....AMAZING ! A huge shopping center full of chineese people ... and every thing written in english and obviously...Chinese !!!

Thursday ... In the morning I have definitely finish my work, At noon I was at home sunbathing by the swiming pool, sleeping, reading my book ("the Givenchy Code" - a funny parody of gess what?, "the Da Vinci Code")

Friday = Meeting at 1 announced by James OLSON, with all the laboratory researchers ... the So much expected meeting ! I forcast to go home early and sunbath by the swiningpool too after the meeting ... Here we are ...

If I have really finish my work, and James have to confirm it before I will try to go home earlier...Go back in France 1 week early = Wouldn't it be superbe! I have to figure out how to do .... hum ... wait !!! Bank acount/salary/administration/fly ticket....Will it be possible....? We will see!!!

Jen told me on Monday...OWH, You live in one month, it goes so fast... I thought in my mind, I don't think so...I will be happy to be home... She told me that I was a really pleasent roommate ...  I really enjoy live in this friendly house full of every thing you need!

Since this week Jen has started her courses, so we go to the campus every morning together with our HUGE "cup" of coffee. Her coffee is yummy ... really ... She study in the hosipal, she want to become a doctor specialized in the behavioral diseases... She has discovered one of her classes with almost 100 dead body ready to be studied ...BURK !!!

Lookout Vancouver

Yesterday night I was at the top of the Vancouver Lookout ! Beautifull view, skyscrappers, mountains, sea ...

With the tourist info of Vancouver you can save 3$ buying your ticket there! What we did! At the top, Alex with her cine camera, me, with my camera ready in front of the world -Vancouver city !

At 7pm we decided to go down and come back later in the night (With one ticket you can go to the lookout as you like during one day). We were walking through out Gatsown street when we saw an awesome Contry store ! Wink for our favorite French BOULET !

Then we found the famous "The Old spagetti factory" ... hummm Yummy! Real pasta from Italia ! Alex have chosen the cheese tomato lasagne gorgeous and I have chosen the cheese lovers spagetti with brown butter and a warm french bread with garlic butter! Salad and ice cream every thing for 12$ really cheap!!!

Then we went back to the lookout by night... Because of our fabulous dinner and all the shops on Gastown street we missed the sunset...

The RELAXING Week end!

Hello ! After this amazing week end to Vancouver Island I needed to relaxe ... Today I woke up at 9am, I kown I am an early bird! I watched loads of movies, devour books (in english please) made phone call, Stanley park ...

My phone calls : Actually I have to call the "Condat" Standard (The place where Romain manage his internship), ask for the 4246 extention and then I can talk to Romain! I say Goodmorning to the standard when they tell me goodnight...that's funny! JET LAG !!! I am in Vancouver for 2 month, so now they used to hear my voice, I call them every two days, almost every days... That 's my communication budget !!! It's not my fault, I have to talk! If in the future I work in Candat I would say : Do you remember 2007 summer - extention 4246, that was me !!!!

I am so tired to follow my story ... see you tomorow, Enjoy your day ... I will be dreaming about my france...

Hello! I am in late to tell you my fabulous week end .... Because, I did nothing really interesting! Relaxing by the swinming pool, reading my new book : The Givenchy Code, by Julie Kenner, whatching movies Desperate housewives ... I have discovered on my memory disc all 3 seasons ...So I whatched it...

It's me, with my new hat! Don't you think I am a little bit tan? I hope, I DO!

Week end - from the 4th to the 6th of August

Today Vancouver Island ! The 6th of August is a day off, the British Columbia day.

Here we wiil be this week end ! Nainamo - Tofino - Victoria !

Me voici de retour de ce long Week end en english speaking, donc trop fatigué pour écrire en anglais a cette heure, une petite french break ne fera de mal a personne!

• Tout a commencé Il y a une semaine quant j'ai envoyé un mail a Julie de Nanaima sur le site de  " Couch Surfer " de Vancouver - Hospitality club de Vancouver! Julie et Sean un couple de 24 ans vivant a Nanaimo depuis 3mois, viennent de L'ile du Prince Edoire( Est Canada) . Julie aprés ses études d'ingénieur en cartographie a décidé de partir 6 mois visiter l'europe avec hospitality club et Sean!

• Il nous on donc accepté chez eux volontier. Samedi matin levé 5h45 pour prendre le bus a 6h15 pour être dans le downtow a 7h00...Downtown à cette heure sortie des boites de nuits, plein de gars bourés un peu relou, avec Alex on s'en débarasse facilement, 8h30 férry, direction Nanaimo. 10h30 arrivé Nanaimo - J'appel Julie - Dire elle vient nous chercher, nous ammène a l'appart, on pause nos affaires et nous voila reparties pour visiter Nanaimo, Newcastle Island (by a tiny ferry not more 8 personn)... Puis Fish and Chips de Folie sur le port : Puis balade dns les magasins, galerie d'art " Native" la culture indienne, j'adore ...awesome ! Et Nanaimo moins cher de Vancouver! Alex Twins a sucombé pour une paire de chaussure "converse"!!! OUH ! Puis vers 18h on c'est dit...On a faim ... alors on a trouvé le petit resto Francais ... On entre: "MY ENGLISH IS NOT GOOD" HOU un Frenchy! Cuisto francais avec sa fille ici, Pralant Francais, il y avait un monde fou! Comme il se doit nousavaons commandé une crepe au chocolat! hum ...Yummy! 19h, on en pouvais on décide difficilement de partir a la recherche de la maison ou l'on doit passer la nuit! Une fois arrivé : Soirée Canadienne in English : Really firendly!

 

• Wake up at 6:30 am ! Départ pour Tofino, petit dej rapide et oups, in the car pour aller chercher Christy, une amie de Julie qui vient juste de déménager car elle a quitté son homme! Puis sur le passage Dave! Nous voila 5 dans la voiture pour 2h30 de route dans les montagnes de Vancouver Island. Quelques petits arret pour admirer les beaux paysages, cascades, creeks... Maginfique ... passant de ciel bleu azure a nuageux!!! Une fois arrivée pause nouriture... Muffin au chocolat juste sorti du Four, hum...On décide d'aller louer des planche et de combi pour aller surffer dans les waves de Tofino! Que d'exitation, de peur, de joie de faire du surf pour la première fois! Le long de la route plongée dans la forêt des panneau nous indique des "risques de TSUNAMI" Oula...ou sommes nous ...pas tres loin du Japon ! Enfin nous voila tous équipé pour aller surffer - 5 surfs attaché on the top of the car ... a la recherche une belle plage et de belles vagues!  Le surf - ENORME - ENORME - HUGE - AMAZING J'ai hate que d'une chose recommencer au plus vite... Et pas si dure que ce que je pensais, J'ai même réussi a tenir debut sur la planche! (Bon que quelques minutes avant de m'éfondrer dans l'eau...) MAis cette impression unique de voler sur l'eau ... comme une déscente le long d'une piste de ski en plein soleil... La TECHNIQUE : Alongé sur la plange nagez le crowl pour se raprocher du large - Trouver une belle vague, lorsqu'elle arrive sur vous nager le crowl alonger sur la planche - des que vous sentez le haut de la planche se lever rajoutez trois mouvements de bras, déposez vos main a plat sur la planche, - IMPULSION et hop le plus rapidement possible positionner ses pieds plat sur la planche - se lever tout en gardant l'éqilibre et en appréciant cette impression de voler, flotter sur la vague...

 

 

• Soirée a Tofino - Sushi restaurant ! Grogeous ! Yummy ! Bien fatiguée de cette journée nous nous sommes ensuite arreté en haut d'une montagne pour apprécier le couché de soleil ! Magnifique! Vers minuit nous voila de retour a Nanaimo, on dépose tout le monde ... direct au lit ! Lundi une longue journée nous attend encore au programme VICTORIA : Ville à l'architecture tres british! Levé 6h30 pour prendre le bus de 7h30, Julie nous amène àl'arret de bus (adorable, vraiment trop gentille) On se fait un hug d'adieu ...superbe WE! A 10h nous voila arrivée a Victoria totalement affamée - crevée .... 1ère action : TOURIST INFO : On trouve une carte de Victoria...alors on se rend copte que le port pour le ferry de Vancouver est à l'autre bout de la ville et qu'il faut prendre un bu d'une heure pour y arriver! 2ème action : Trouver a manger : Dear Starbuck coffe : Capucchino - hum ça a mieux ! Je trouve enfin une cabine téléphonique pour appeler mon Fresh! Ce que je devait faire depuis deux jours mais perdue au fin fond du canada, il n'y a pas toujours de cabine a partée de main! 30 min aprés - mon coup de fil passé on commence les visites ! Chinatown, le port ... Crevée on décide de rentrer - Bus 70 direction Swartz Bay - on prend le ferry 2 heures de voyage et nous voila dans le SOUTH DELTA Vancouver, encore des bus a prendre 620 qui nous amène à l'airport station, puis B-line 98 enfin chez moi ! Quel week end ! Le MEILLEUR !

Third - China fireworks

Everything begin on the cossroad of Davie/Granville when we meet Brieuc and Emilie. We met Brieuc at a Couch surffer party and Emilie is one of his German Friend working with dogs on the North of Vancouver. We decided to follow Davie street to reach English bay, the sunset, and the firework! After 10 min waking in the crowded street we saw the Ice- Cream- Maker.... I toke a pizza because I was starving, but ot enough to take an ice cream besides... Alex and Brieuc spend 20 min to chose the perfect associatin, for the perfect flavour... At 8.pm we were on the rock along the beach ...waiting for the sun set !

The best fireworks I have ever seen ! Amasing, kazilion of people on the huge beach. In my mind, China deserve to win this contest... I can't explain how tremendous it is...

My favorite was China, Alex Favorite was Spain, George wife favorite was Canada....so, The three were outstanding!

 

Tuesday we visited the Anthropology museum on UBC campus... it was dissapointing! Nothing really captivting!
